Philip Jenkins has an excellent article on CT recounting the history of Christianity in Iraq. Jenkins, who teaches at Penn State University, has written extensively on global Christianity. The article is both informative and well written, typical of Jenkins fair. His trilogy on trends in global Christianity is reported to be brilliant and Mark Noll has offered some high praise for his most recent book on the history of Christianity in the Middle East.
