Links for Late in Tuesday
I could have titled this post links to Out of Ur. Or I could just post a linke to Out of Ur at the beginning of this post and be done. However, I want to add a little commentary to what I’m linking to.
First, going back about ten days, is an excellent piece by Collin Hansen interacting with a piece on urbanization, the economic downturn and its effects on the church in North America. Hansen is primarily responding to a report by economist Richard Florida and points out that while Floirda’s analysis may seem compelling it makes financial gain and economics the sole criteria for determining change and predicinting future trends. However, people are more than just money making machines and even if they were people often act illogically (one of the reasons we find ourselves in this economic crisis in the first place).
Second, is a much briefer article discussing the future of the church in North America. What sort of future do evangelicals have in America when we are continuing to gain people at a slower rate than overal population growth?
Third, Mark Galli provides a wonderful critique of evangelicalism as he responds to the reports in USA Today and Christian Science Monitor.
Grace and Peace.
